Fishing in Ölfusá-river
Our farm Kirkjuferjuhjáleiga lies on the riverbank of Ölfusá-river wich is, one might say the mainstream up to the famous salmon rivers, Hvítá and Sog. These rivers are considered among the best rivers in Iceland for Salmon fishing.
All the Salmon that swims from the ocean to those rivers to hedge asvell as the fish that hedges in the Ölfusá it self, swims up the river to get there, so there is much traffic in the river of both Salmon, and trout.
We are among those farms that have fishing-rights in Ölfusá river and some of those who have gone fishing from our farm have been very lucky, catching a huge fish, using either fly or angel.
The landscape down by the river is beautiful and the atmosphere is peaceful.
If our guests are interested, they can barrow fishing-gear by us, go to the river and try it out. This needs to be ordered in advance.

One of our guests from Sweden was down by the river 3 days, 3 hours each day and cought 3 fish each time, so he had 9 well-eatable Seesalmon. The fish was from 2-5 pounds.
