Our life here at the farm is mostly about horses and the nature around us. We offer our guests to meet our horses and even to ride a lesson or ride a 1 hr trail-ride to the riverbank or even take a short drive as a passenger in our horse-sulky.

Stable visitBeing a guest in the Gamla húsið gives you the opportunity to visit the horses in the stable, and learn a little bit about the horse, it´s origin and story. Your host Trausti is a very active and popular riding-teacher who works in many different country's. At your arrival, you can order a Stable-visit if it is available at that time. The price for a 30 min group-visit is ISkr 10.000.-
A trail-ride
In case our guests want to take a ride in the nature, we offer them a ride down to the riverbank, enjoying the beautiful nature there and our very nice horses. Contact Trausti and ask him if he and the right horses fitting for you are avaleable at the time you are our guests.

A Riding-lessonf you are interested in knowing more about the Icelandic horse and how it is educated and trained, you can order a lesson with Trausti. He will do that depending on weather, inside his small indoor-riding arena or on the Oval-track next to the stable. Speak to Trausti at your arrival and order a 40 min lesson if it is available at that time. The price for a guest is ISkr 10.000.-
Fishing in Ölfusá River
Our farm Kirkjuferjuhjáleiga lies on the riverbank of Ölfusá-river wich is, one might say the mainstream up to the famous salmon rivers, Hvítá and Sog. These rivers are considered among the best rivers in Iceland for Salmon fishing.
All the Salmon that swims from the ocean to those rivers to hedge asvell as the fish that hedges in the Ölfusá it self, swims up the river to get there, so there is much traffic in the river of both Salmon, and trout. We are among those farms that have fishing-rights in Ölfusá river and some of those who have gone fishing from our farm have been very lucky, catching a huge fish, using either fly or angel. The landscape down by the river is beautiful and the atmosphere is peaceful. If our guests are interested, they can barrow fishing-gear by us, go to the river and try it out. This needs to be ordered in advance.

A ride in our sulkyOur guests can book a little tour in our horse carrage one at the time. 30 min driving on our "oval-track" costs Iskr 10.000.-
